It was our last day in Huanchaco. Our numbers had dwindled until only a few of us remained to keep the hammocks company. We were the dedicated ones. The hard core individuals. The strong. The proud. The bored. To pass the time, someone suggested coming up with our own haikus to commemorate our week. And since this is my blog and you are reading it, you must have a few minutes to spare as well, so I have included my creations. And please, if you feel so moved after reading this post, feel free to leave haikus of your own for us all to view. The world needs more haikus.
And now, without further ado, my beachside haiku:
Hammock
Soaking up the day
Half in the shade, half in sun
Swinging in the breeze
Alive
Once clean feet set free
Returning each day dirty
Full of contentment
